Through its REAM (Rural Energy Access Model) Gpower NGO is a pioneer in the establishment of renewable energy mini-grid systems that are constructed, owned and operated in partnership with farmer shareholders.

Gpower is a Kenyan based non-governmental organization (NGO) with an international status and operational in developing and post-industrial countries. Its mission upholds identification of capital structures, design institutionalization processes that isolate and govern rural and national resources and establish sustainable human relation networks. Currently, Gpower is active in Kirinyaga, Central Province, Kenya, and engages itself with ten Community Based Organizations in order to realize a hydro generation plant and 1000-household connection network at each of the CB-project sites. Gpower’s mission is the creation of networks which isolate and institutionalize channels of funds under a conglomerate body. In this respect and through our Kenyan operations, inefficient alternative energy expenditures are isolated and transformed to efficient channels through the establishment of electricity networks.

Under the REA-model (Rural Energy Access), capital is created, governed and made available for shareholders.

The comprehensive and participative focus of the REA-model as well as the firm emphasis on the local production of all technical installations - including axial flow impulse turbines - enables Gpower not only to directly impact social transformation in the target areas but also to implement it’s power generation and distribution projects at 35% below the costs projected by international experts in the same field
Currently Gpower’s REA-Model in Kirinyaga District mirrors a joint venture of 10 standardized renewable energy projects which are conglomerated under one umbrella company reflecting a 70% CB-ownership through over 10,000 project members.

Since 2003 and through its long term expertise Gpower is recognized as a professional reference within the field of community based renewable energy projects and is supported by various renowned organizations, legal- and academic institutions such as (in alphabetical order)
